Committee tasked with studying and proposing mechanisms and policies to create a legal environment to promote the development of e-government.

The National Committee for e-Government has been established under Decision No. 1072/QD-TTg, which took effect today, August 28.

The Committee will be headed by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc with assistance from Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam as Vice Chairman and Minister and Chairman of the Office of the Government Mai Tien Dung as Secretary General.

It will be formed from the strengthening the National Committee on IT application and conduct the building of e-government systems.

Members of the Committee include the Ministers of Public Security, Information and Communications, Finance, Science and Technology, and Natural Resources and Environment, the Deputy Ministers of Home Affairs and Information and Communications, the Head of the Government Cipher Board, the Chairman and CEO of Viettel, the Chairman of the Members’ Council of VNPT, the Chairman of the Members’ Councils of VNPost, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of FPT.

The Committee is tasked with studying and proposing to the government and the Prime Minister mechanisms and policies to create a legal environment to promote the development of e-government towards digital government, the digital economy, and digital society, and facilitate the implementation of Industry 4.0 in Vietnam.

It will also help direct ministries, branches and localities to realize objectives, tasks and solutions for building and developing e-government towards digital government, the digital economy, and digital society, and assist the government and the Prime Minister in coordinating, encouraging, and inspecting the implementation of cross-sector strategies, programs, mechanisms, policies, schemes, projects and solutions for developing e-government.

At the same time, the Committee will seek opinions on strategies, programs, mechanisms, policies, schemes and projects related to the building and development of e-government under the Prime Minister's decision, review and evaluate the situation and results of the implementation of key tasks and solutions for building and developing e-government, and perform other tasks as directed by the government or the Prime Minister.
