Savills Vietnam has announced the launch of a new Korean desk to assist a wide range of South Korean enterprises across its full range of real estate services in Vietnam, and appointed Ms. Hyojin Kim, based in Hanoi, to run the desk.

Ms. Kim is a South Korean expatriate in Vietnam with a background in diplomacy and international business studies. Before joining Savills Vietnam in May 2019, she honed her communication skills and market understanding as a news reporter for five years at the Korea Times, South Korea’s largest English-language daily.

As Head of the Korean desk, she will expand Savills Vietnam’s South Korean client network and provide them with comprehensive consultation about Vietnam’s real estate market and its wide range of property sectors. Her primary focus at the moment is Business Development, Commercial Leasing, where she will work as a direct liaison between the Korean office and retail occupiers and Savills leasing services and commercial property landlords.

“It was a strategic move for Savills Vietnam to establish a Korean desk,” said Mr. Matthew Powell, Director of Savills Hanoi. “South Korean clients and enterprises are playing an increasingly significant role in Vietnam’s property market. According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, in the first half of this year South Korea was the second-largest foreign direct investor in Vietnam, with $2.73 billion, accounting for 14.8 per cent of total registered FDI.”

“With more than 24 years of experience, Savills has a long history of working with many South Korean clients in Vietnam, including many corporate occupiers, real estate investors, property developers, retailers, and other professional service providers. A specialized service offering for South Korean clients and enterprises has become essential to our business in Vietnam. That is why our Korean desk was set up. With Ms. Kim taking the lead, our real estate services are expected to reach South Korean clients extensively and intensively. This addition will certainly help Savills consolidate its position as a global real estate practice with in-depth local market expertise.”

“I am very pleased to join the team here at Savills Vietnam and look forward to working with our South Korean clients to assist them with their real estate requirements,” said Ms. Kim. “This position acts as a point of contact, which will help me deeply understand their business needs and how Savills will be best placed to help them. I expect our Korean desk to add further depth to the services that we can offer our South Korean clients.”
