PIXTA Vietnam and the School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics (SAMI) at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on April 18 in Hanoi on carrying out collaborative research into machine learning and computer vision.

The company wishes to develop its own business by utilizing the potential of Vietnamese engineers and contribute to raising the numbers of high-level local IT staff.

It anticipates improvements in search accuracy and the user experience on its website, and will work to promote the use of IT. Finally, it will develop its own machine learning technology and contribute to the improvement and employment of IT human resources.

HUST was established in 1956 as the first technology university in Vietnam. It had 37,200 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students in 2018, and conducts collaborative research and projects with other universities, research institutions, and educational institutions all over the world. Its achievements have attracted attention in many countries and helped it become one of the leading universities in Vietnam.

While the number of engineers in Vietnam with high level skills has been increasing and university studies have improved in recent years, many engineers are lacking modern techniques.

PIXTA Vietnam will conduct research and development (R&D) on high-quality AI imaging in the medium and long term, with automated tag annotation for over 40 million images and high-quality AI images while also strengthening its cooperation with SAMI.

The company was established as the first overseas R&D center of PIXTA Inc. in May 2016. It is primarily engaged in R&D for Pixtastock, with three specific responsibilities: R&D (develop and operate part of the PIXTA system), content review (check uploaded content), and post production (retouching photos).
