Panasonic celebrates 100th anniversary with week-long event in Tokyo and discusses strategy for next 100 years.

Panasonic celebrated the 100th anniversary of its founding with a special week-long event from October 30 to November 3 called the Cross-Value Innovation Forum 2018, at the Tokyo International Conference Center in Japan. The forum was the finale to the 100th anniversary exhibition tour that has traveled around the world this year, opening a new vision of Panasonic in its second century.

Mr. Kazuhiro Tsuga, President of the company, emphasized the strategy of “co-creation” with partners, customers, and consumers, introducing a concept called “Lifestyle Update”.

He underlined a strategy that provides products and services that evolve with the individual end-user’s personal preferences and way of life. This product ecosystem is based on artificial intelligence, big data, and real time. Trends in mobility and diversifying lifestyles and personal tastes create profound opportunities for Panasonic on a global scale.

Such a transition will require a fresh look at the Panasonic brand, which over the decades has expanded its range of businesses far and wide from a leading company in consumer electronics in Japan.

A highlight in its development strategy is HomeX, which is going to be commercialized in 2019. The HomeX project aims to create new value in daily living through user experience and user interface-focused design ideally suited to different types of living spaces.

Other latest technologies and solutions Panasonic is providing to business partners over the world were introduced at the general exhibition during the forum, such as robots serving in restaurants, high-performance vacuum-insulated glass technology for temporary housing construction companies, and automated payment technology for retailers, among others.

The Cross-Value Innovation Forum also featured many activities, including addresses from Panasonic’s senior executives and lectures from experts and key partners along with a technology and ideas show that attracted nearly 50,000 participants. The forum was also an opportunity for Panasonic to express its gratitude to customers and global partners and affirm its efforts to contribute to the development of society over the last 100 years.

As one of Panasonic’s key strategic markets in ASEAN, Panasonic Vietnam has had nearly 50 years of branding and is not outside the company’s overall development strategy in the new era.

Being a leading company in Vietnam’s consumer electronics industry, Panasonic continues its strategy of developing R&D, expanding factories, and developing distribution and customer services to meet the needs and preferences of Vietnamese consumers. In 2017, Panasonic recorded sales turnover of $1 billion and grew across almost all businesses, with total investment of $243 million.
