Various activities are taking place during the Vietnam - France Culture and Friendship Week at the Youth Cultural House in Ho Chi Minh City from April 15 to 20.

The Week is a part of celebrations for the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and France and five years of the bilateral strategic partnership.

French Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Mr. Vincent Floreani told the opening ceremony that the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties is a landmark in the development of relations. He quoted French President Emmanuel Macron as telling a press conference following talks with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong during the latter’s visit in March that over the 45 years of diplomatic ties and five years of the strategic partnership the two sides have recorded many achievements. France will be further present in the region into the future and Vietnam will be a friend in helping it consolidate this presence.

The highlight of the Week are photo exhibitions introducing the achievements of the two countries in agriculture, healthcare, education, community development, and so on. An exhibition on education in France is also being held.

French cuisine, French music, and French contemporary dance, the Krossing Over Arts Festival, screening of French films, and a quiz on France and the two countries’ friendship are also on the agenda.

The Organizing Board said such events will Vietnamese people learn more about France and promote cultural exchanges between the two countries. “Through these events we hope to improve mutual understanding, friendly relations, and cooperation between Vietnam and France,” said Mr. Huynh Minh Thien, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations.
