Google and the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) established a strategic relationship on August 15 in Hanoi to expand the Accelerate Vietnam Digital 4.0 program.

The initiative was launched by Google in June 2018 and aims to provide digital skills training for 500,000 employees of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This partnership will facilitate the expansion of the scale and scope of the project, especially to rural areas, to reach more Vietnamese people and help them succeed.

Accelerate Vietnam Digital 4.0 has organized training courses for nearly 85,000 employees working at SMEs, with 24 training models at six training centers in cities including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Can Tho, Da Lat and Hai Phong. The program received the Vietnam Digital Award 2018 and a Global CSR Award 2019.

Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh said the initiative is a meaningful program that helps Vietnam build an important piece of infrastructure: skilled human resources.

“We know that when Vietnamese people have more access to online tools, services, information, and training, they are more likely to turn their dream into reality,” said Mr. Scott Beaumont, President of Google Asia-Pacific. “We believe that the strategic partnership with MoIT will help bring the Accelerate Vietnam Digital 4.0 program to a new level. The digital era brings countless opportunities and Vietnam is in a good position to be able to develop to its potential.”

Google also announced on the same day additional programs to reach smaller businesses and make it easier and more convenient for them to access digital training.

For example, Digital Bus is an extended activity from the Digital 4.0 program, helping businesses in suburban and remote areas access digital knowledge. The bus will travel to 59 cities and provinces in Vietnam from August 2019 to December 2020. The Primer app, meanwhile, offers a fast and easy way to learn new business and digital marketing skills and is completely free.
