The establishment of the Quang Tri Southeast Economic Zone in central Quang Tri province has been approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

The zone will include functional areas such as industrial parks (IPs), administrative areas, residential areas, tourist areas, service areas, and a port, among others.

The 23,792 ha economic zone will straddle 17 towns and communes in Hai Lang district, Trieu Phong district, and Gio Linh district.

It will exploit the advantages presented by the local natural conditions and geographical location to implement domestic and international trading and service activities.

This will help to promote socio-economic development in Quang Tri and the central region and contribute to narrowing the gap in the region’s development compared to other regions.

The development of the economic zone will focus on attracting investment, strengthening economic development, and ensuring national defense and security.

Key sectors at the zone will include tourism, services and agriculture, which will spur the long-term development of Quang Tri and the central region and create jobs, improve the quality of local human resources, and increase incomes.
