Nearly 200 parents and students gathered together on January 8 for an intimate party, sharing and giving insights into their children’s learning process and reflecting on their journey with YOLA Education.

Vietnam’s education sector in general and the English teaching market in particular have witnessed considerable change and transformation in recent years. Industry 4.0 is making a gradual impact on the awareness among and decisions by parents and students in information screening and selecting English language training methods and centers suitable for their learning needs.

Founded in 2009, from a small center at 91 Vo Thi Sau in Ho Chi Minh City with three co-founders - Pham Anh Khoa (Bates University, US), Phan Duy (Dickinson University, US) and Ngo Thuy Ngoc Tu (Stanford University, US) - YOLA Education ynow has 16 branches around the country and more than 50,000 parents and students enrolled, and was ranked in the top 3 best English language centers in Ho Chi Minh City.

Thousands of families have taken the journey with YOLA since the very first years of its establishment, from the Children’s program to the Youth Program and exam preparation. YOLA students hold record scores, such as TOEFL 119/120, SAT 1590/1600, IELTS 8.5/9.0, and TOEFL JUNIOR 900/900. More than 2,000 YOLA students have received scholarships from leading universities in the world, including Harvard, Stanford, Yale, LSE, Cornell, and MIT. Such impressive achievements during its ten years in the market are the result of many changes and improvements at YOLA, including in the curriculum, teaching methods, teacher recruitment process, and customer service. The ultimate purpose of all these adjustments is to provide parents and students with a quality, inspiring, and effective learning environment.

“The Asia Pacific Leadership Program - an Obama non-profit organization - was held recently,” Ms. Ngo Thuy Ngoc Tu, Co-Founder of YOLA, said at the gathering. “When listening to former First Lady Michelle Obama and actress Julia Roberts talk about the visit to the Room to Read organization in Can Giuoc in Ho Chi Minh City with the Girl Opportunity Alliance, I was thrilled to watch a video featuring voices of Vietnamese girls telling stories about how they have overcome family and economic barriers to get an education, like finding the light at the end of the tunnel. Everyone here at YOLA hopes that there will be more girls in particular and Vietnamese students in general realizing their potential. YOLA is committed to building more educational programs and activities to help young people confidently conquer their dreams.”

Ms. Bui Khoa Thi, a parent of students Minh Ky and Thu Ky, has been with YOLA for more than five years. She learned about YOLA from the event in which Ms. Tu introduced former US President Barack Obama at the Vietnam Young Leadership Program and chose YOLA because of the quality of its teaching and lecturers and staff.

“From the time Minh Ky started learning at YOLA, I decided to stay committed with the center until Minh Ky went to study in the US,” she said. “And Thu Ky has shared many memories with YOLA. Both my children have changed a lot since enrolling at YOLA. They are able to communicate comfortably with foreigners, confidently give presentations in English on stage, and have become more mature in how they confide with their parents. Thanks to this, my children and I have become closer than ever.”

With a 2020 goal of expanding centers in Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding areas, YOLA hopes to receive continued support from parents and students to accomplish its mission of building a liberal education environment and reaching more and more Vietnamese students.

Besides extracurricular activities, YOLA always has special programs to help parents and students understand each other better. On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2020 (Tet) - the Year of the Rat - from January 1 to February 29 YOLA is pleased to offer parents and students the chance to receive attractive prizes and gifts such as a Macbook Air or iPad Air in a lucky draw when registering for an English course at any of its branches in Ho Chi Minh City. Tuition fees are also discounted by up to VND5 million ($215).
