The Vietnam News Agency on November 13 quoted Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang as rejecting all the contents regarding Vietnam in a statement made by a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson on November 8 on sovereignty over the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago.

Responding to media questions on November 13, Ms. Hang said Vietnam has repeatedly stated that it has sufficient historical and legal evidence to prove its sovereignty over the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelagoes in line with international law, adding that historical reality has proven this.

She reiterated Vietnam’s consistent stance that all international disputes, including those relating to sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa, must be settled by peaceful measures in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter.

Vietnam wishes that China would join efforts in developing the bilateral relationship and maintaining peace, security, and stability in the region, Ms. Hang said.
