Drill threatens peace, stability and maritime safety and security in Vietnam's waters, says Foreign Ministry.

Vietnam resolutely protests against Taiwan’s live-fire drill in the waters around Ba Binh in Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago and demands that it not repeat such activities, Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ spokesman Le Hai Binh was quoted as saying on March 30 by the Vietnam News Agency.

Responding to media questions, Mr. Binh declared that the move “seriously violates Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Truong Sa archipelago.”

“It also threatens peace, stability and maritime safety and security in the East Sea, while elevating tension and complicating the situation in the waters,” he said.

He reiterated that Vietnam has sufficient historical evidence and legal foundation proving the country’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa archipelagoes.
