Ninety-seven domestic enterprises were honored by the National Brand Council on December 20 in Hanoi for having products that meet national brand standards.

Twenty received the recognition for the sixth time and 24 were recognized for the first time.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung emphasized that the achievements national brand enterprises have obtained are an important foundation and the primary factor in boosting the creation of more products of high quality, contributing to the country’s economic development.

He urged honored businesses to continue to pursue the values in the National Brand Program, focusing on quality, innovation and competence to meet the expectations of the State and be worthy of the trust and love of consumers for products and services bearing the Vietnamese brand.

Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh said the National Brand Program has contributed to raising awareness on brand name building among enterprises and boosted coordination and support in the building and development of trademarks.

Enterprises honored with the national brand have exhibited improvements in capacity, expressed in the maintaining of high growth rates in revenue and profits, for some nearly 70 per cent, remaining firmly in the domestic market and developing their export markets.

Total revenue of these enterprises stood at over VND924 trillion ($39.7 billion) in 2017, up 28 per cent over 2015. Export value was at nearly $5.7 billion and contributed more than VND63 trillion ($2.7 billion) to the State budget, up 19.3 per cent over 2015, while creating jobs for nearly half a million workers.

The event honoring the 97 enterprises attaining the “national brand” title was the sixth edition of the program, which was first launched in 2008. Last year, 91 enterprises gained the title.

The Vietnam National Brand Program is approved by the government to promote the national image and national brands through brands for goods and services. The Ministry of Industry and Trade is the agency in charge of coordinating with relevant ministries and agencies in implementing the program.
