NA votes on new Minister of Information and Communications

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung elected as Minister on October 24.

With 95.05 per cent of votes, the 14th National Assembly (NA) approved the appointment of Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung as Minister of Information and Communications on October 24.

Voting was via secret ballot. Mr. Hung will hold the position for the 2016-2021 tenure. NA deputies passed a resolution on October 23 approving the dismissal of Mr. Truong Minh Tuan from the post of the Minister of Information and Communications.

Earlier, Chairman of the National Assembly Office and Secretary General of the NA Nguyen Hanh Phuc presented a draft resolution approving the election of a new Minister of Information and Communications. The Politburo had also appointed Mr. Hung as the new Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Information and Communications for the 2016-2021 term.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc assigned Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Chairman and General Director of the Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group, as acting Minister of Information and Communications in July.
