A representative from the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Vietnam told the Vietnam-EU Forum on December 6 in Hanoi that prospects are great for promoting bilateral agricultural trade cooperation through the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement, which is expected to be reviewed and approved in the near future.

The forum, “Agro-Trading: Partnerships for Sustainable Development”, was held by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in cooperation with the Delegation of the European Union and embassies of the EU in Vietnam.

Delegates exchanged ideas on orientations for developing agricultural cooperation between Vietnam and the EU in the future, the sharing of experiences and development tendencies, and exporting Vietnamese agricultural products to the EU market.

Speakers said that Vietnam’s agricultural products have potential for export to the EU. Many Vietnamese companies have already proven that their product quality meets the requirements of the EU and EU consumers’ tastes. Vietnamese products popular in Europe include cashew nuts, coffee, dragon fruit, and longan.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Cao Quoc Hung said that the Vietnam-EU Trade Forum is an opportunity for delegates, business associations, and provinces in the north to directly connect with trade representatives from the EU Delegation to promote export cooperation in agricultural products. This is also a prerequisite for developing a channel of policy advice and the exchange of experience and market information between Vietnam and the EU in the near future.

The forum attracted the participation of representatives of ministries, sectors, localities, industry associations, EU embassies in Vietnam, and nearly 100 enterprises.
