Former Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) Tran Bac Ha and two other former officials of the bank were arrested for their suspected involvement in legal violations via banking operations, according to an announcement released on November 29 by the Ministry of Public Security.

The two other former officials are former Deputy General Director Tran Luc Lang and former Deputy Director of the bank’s Ha Tinh branch, Kieu Dinh Hoa.

Meanwhile, former chief of the corporate client office at the BIDV Ha Tinh branch Le Thi Van Anh was ordered not to leave her place of residence, also for suspected violations of banking regulations.

At its 26th session held last May, the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission concluded that Tran Bac Ha, as former Secretary of the BIDV Party Committee, held the main responsibility for wrongdoings and shortcomings in the BIDV Party Committee’s standing board for the 2010-2015 and 2015-2020 tenures.

A month later, at its 27th session, the Commission decided to take disciplinary measures against Ha, dispelling him from the Party.
