Vmap - the Vietnamese Digital Map Platform, and iNhandao - the Humanitarian Information Connection System, two pioneering projects in the digital Vietnamese knowledge system plan, were launched on October 1 in Hanoi.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam attended the ceremony and expressed his pleasure about the launch of the first phase of the two projects.

One of the most basic data platforms for each country is maps and address data layers. Vietnam needs to build its own online map platform to actively manage data sources and meet searching demand.

Vmap has now collected more than 23.4 million addresses in the country and basic address data in aspects such as education, health, tourism, and households. The project had been built by young people at the FPT Corporation, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Vietnam Post, and many other groups and organizations.

At the launch ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Dam called on organizations and the donor community to support the development of the plan on developing the two projects.

iNhandao is an electronic humanitarian address map to support the implementation of humanitarian activities. The system was developed by the Vietnam Red Cross in cooperation with the FPT Corporation to connect and assist the needy with volunteers in an active and immediate way.

In the first phase, iNhandao develops humanitarian address data to provide organizations, individuals, and businesses with diverse and accurate information. The activities of the sponsor are guaranteed to reach the right objective and right needs, in a spirit of transparency and clarity. Donors can also manage their sponsorship activities on the system easily and transparently.

The digital Vietnamese knowledge system plan - an ambitious Wikipedia-like portal designed for Vietnamese people - was launched in Hanoi on January 1, 2018, pursuant to Prime Ministerial Decision No. 677/QD-TTg.

The system comprises an open database providing information and data published by ministries, agencies, localities, businesses, organizations, and individuals and an archive of global knowledge translated into Vietnamese and Vietnamese knowledge that is systematized for easy study and access.
