More than VND140 trillion ($6.2 billion), including VND55 trillion ($2.4 billion) from the State, will be used for the first phase of construction of the North-South Expressway linking Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, local media have reported.
According to the Vietnam News Agency, the construction of sections totaling 684 km in the first phase will be undertaken from 2017 to 2022.
Four lanes will be built from Mai Son (Ninh Binh) to Bai Vot (Ha Tinh) and from Cam Lam (Khanh Hoa) to Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan) in the public-private partnership (PPP) form, and from Cam Lo (Quang Tri) to La Son (Thua Thien Hue) under the build-transfer (BT) form.
The Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan) to Dau Giay (Dong Nai) section will also have four lanes and be built under the PPP form.
Some 688 km of roads are to be built in the second phase from 2023-2028, at an estimated cost of more than VND103 trillion ($4.5 billion).
The third phase will be carried out after 2028, with investment of over VND69 trillion ($3.04 billion).
