Vietjet Air and the Vietnam Youth Union’s Central Committee, National Volunteer Centre, kicked-off the “Let’s clean up the ocean” campaign in 2018 on Phu Quoc Island last weekend.

At a ceremony, Vietjet and the Vietnam Youth Union’s Central Committee handed over mobile propaganda vehicles, clothing, tools, and gifts to the core team of “Let’s clean up the ocean” on Phu Quoc Island.

The “Let’s clean up the ocean” campaign, with the theme “Reduce pollution from domestic waste”, will be implemented in 28 coastal cities and provinces with a range of activities.

Vietjet will accompany practical activities such as the “Let’s clean up the ocean” poster design and initiative contest; organize social security activities to encourage disadvantaged fishermen in coastal provinces to continue fishing and developing the economy; establish core youth volunteer teams to protect the ocean environment in coastal areas; and minimize pollution from garbage in at least 50 per cent of areas identified as being contaminated with domestic waste.

“Taking care of the community and being involved in environmental protection have become part of Vietjet’s employees’ lives,” said Mr. Do Xuan Quang, Vice President of Vietjet. “This is also part of the Sustainable Development Plan that the airline has in place, which contributes to improving awareness and responsibility among the community and tourists in keeping ocean environments clean and creating a better and more civilized community.”

Conducting hundreds of flights every day with millions of passengers every year, Vietjet believes that practical activities can have a direct impact on the mindsets and awareness of passengers, contributing significantly to preserving and protecting the marine environment.

Vietjet and the Vietnam Youth Union’s Central Committee have signed a five-year cooperation agreement for 2018-2023, under which they will jointly organize, along with students and young people, a host of practical activities for the sake of the community, especially social welfare activities and support programs. Accompanying the activities of “Young doctors follow Uncle Ho’s words, volunteer for public health”, Vietjet sponsored 5,000 medicines, 20 gifts for policy beneficiaries, and ten water microbiology filters at kindergartens and primary schools. On the occasion of the last Lunar New Year (Tet), the airline also organized one free flight, “Spread the love”, on an aircraft bearing “I love my Fatherland”, for disadvantaged young people, workers, and students to return home for the holiday.
