Two charged with being accomplices in PetroVietnam Construction case.
Two more suspects in the embezzlement case against former PetroVietnam Construction (PVC) Chairman Trinh Xuan Thanh have been arrested.
According to the Vietnam News Agency, in a report sent to the government e-portal on March 31, the Investigation Police Agency of the Ministry of Public Security said it would detain and prosecute the former Chairman of the Board of Management and General Director of PVC’s Kinh Bac Investment and Installation Company, Mr. Do Van Hong, and former Deputy General Director of the PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation, Mr. Nguyen Manh Tien.
The report noted that the agency is expanding its criminal investigation against Mr. Thanh and Mr. Vu Duc Thuan, former PVC General Director, on suspicion of embezzlement and for alleged violations of State regulations in economic management that caused about VND3.3 trillion ($142 million) in losses for PVC.
Mr. Hong and Mr. Tien have been charged with being accomplices in the intentional violation of State regulations in economic management that resulted in serious consequences.
An international arrest warrant for Mr. Thanh was issued last September after he fled the country.
