SCG has recently handed over the third high-quality “Sharing the Dream” playground to Long Son 1 Primary School in Long Son commune, southern Ba Ria Vung Tau province, following the first two playgrounds at Long Son 2 Primary School and Tuoi Tho Kindergarten in the same locality last year.

This third playground is made from premium quality PE plastic resin from SCG’s chemicals business, designed to be safe and colorful and ignite children’s creativity. With this, SCG continues to contribute to the holistic development of local children, creating a more appealing learning environment.

Sharing the Dream is a pioneering project in Vietnam, as it meets the increasing demand among communities for educational and safe play spaces for children. In both urban and rural areas, with rising populations and limited areas or public investment, it can be hard to find a proper playground where children can play safely and smartly. SCG’s playgrounds are the first to introduce a totally fresh experience that enhances the learning quality for Long Son’s children.

“SCG commits to creating a better living for all communities where we operate,” said Mr. Somchai Wangwattanapanich, Senior Vice President, Chemicals Business, at SCG. “At Long Son commune - the home of our flagship Southern Petrochemical Complex - SCG has worked closely with local authorities on several community projects, including these playgrounds.”

“Our goal is to build a recreational space that is safe and joyful for the little pupils of Long Son, to help them develop holistically through playing. We believe that these young seeds will grow into healthy citizens able to contribute to a better future for Long Son in particular and Ba Ria Vung Tau in general.”

The first two playgrounds for the Long Son 2 Primary School and Tuoi Tho Kindergarten have been warmly received by local students. Many now love to go to school because of the playground. “Besides developing children’s motor skills, the playground encourages them to collaborate, to solve problems, and build friendships, creating a friendly learning atmosphere for our school,” said Mr. Bui Van Minh, Headmaster of Long Son 1 Primary School. “We look forward to seeing more of our children benefit from the playground built by SCG and Long Son Petrochemicals (LSP).”

SCG and LSP have also manifested their long-term commitment through various projects focusing on human development and community development.

In Long Son commune, LSP has focused on community projects such as a mobile clinic to provide free health checks for local people, campaigns to raise traffic safety awareness, programs to enhance business skills among local SMEs, vocational training for local workers, charity efforts to support poor families, and scholarships and other activities for local children.
