A photo exhibition dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Astana, opened in Hanoi on December 5 at the Elegant Suites Westlake Hotel.

The exhibition is being organized by the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan with support from the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Vietnam.

Consisting of more than 40 photos, the exhibition will acquaint visitors with the modern look of Kazakhstan’s capital, its unique architectural structures, and cultural objects erected across the city for two decades. It includes the designs of some of the world’s most famous architects.

“I would like to proudly point out that over the years Astana has become a major symbol of independence and a factor in the successful development of Kazakhstan,” said H.E. Zhumakhanov B.M, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Vietnam.

The photos have been exhibited throughout the year in museums in various cities and capitals around the world as part of celebrations of Astana’s 20th anniversary. Its construction and development are inseparable from the history of the emergence of an independent Kazakhstan and the activities of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, who first proposed and implemented the idea of building a new capital.

The opening of the photo exhibition involved a musical performance from the Kazakhstan neo-ethno-folk musical group Arkayim, which, by playing national instruments, demonstrated to those in the audience a modern sound of ethnic music in combination with the ancient form of throat singing.
