The Ministry of Health signed a cooperation agreement with the FPT Corporation on August 16 on applying and developing medical information technology in the 2018-2028 period.

The signing ceremony was attended by Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of the FPT Corporation, and representatives from relevant departments and agencies, hospitals, and FPT subsidiaries.

Major activities to be undertaken under the agreement include building an electric medical structure, preparing documents guiding the application of IT in the medical industry, introducing regulations on the electric medical sector for relevant units, training, R&D on the electric medical sector and training in data center operations, creating standards for medical IT, and building models in smart healthcare, smart hospitals, smart medical management and integrated solutions for medical activities.

Ms. Tien told the ceremony that IT application needs to satisfy the needs of people and medical professionals. Software for smart hospitals needs to meet requirements such as having simple procedures, time saving components, and transparency. She proposed that FPT quickly implement building the smart medical model.

Mr. Binh said the corporation commits to accompanying the ministry in boosting the development and application of new technological solutions in the medical industry.

The agreement is considered the foundation for FPT to more closely cooperate with the ministry and then contribute to boosting the application of medical IT. At the same time, the cooperation will hold forums to pass on knowledge and information about medical IT to policymakers, enterprises and citizens.

Launched in 2000, FPT.eHospital software has provided technology solutions for more than 200 hospitals and medical agencies.

The application of the latest Industry 4.0 technologies, such as artificial intelligence, big data, cloud, mobility, and the Internet of Things (IoT), among others, is considered a highlight of FPT.eHospital 2.0, the latest version.

These solutions allow hospital leaders to manage operations with real-time data, digital signature integration, and digital medical records. They are expected to contribute to building paperless hospitals, optimizing medical examination and treatment processes to make them faster and more accurate, minimizing administrative procedures, improving the capabilities of hospitals, and supporting financial management and profit and loss management.
