More than 700 staff from KPMG, one of the largest professional services firms in Vietnam, switched off their laptops and headed out to 12 projects in seven cities and provinces to engage in an annual day of community service on July 7

“As a company with over 1,000 staff in Vietnam and Cambodia, we are passionate about strengthening relationships with our local communities,” said Mr. Warrick Cleine, CEO of KPMG Vietnam. “This is our 5th Community Day in Vietnam. Spending the day volunteering is our team’s commitment to the firm’s values and corporate social responsibility.”

KPMG teams from three offices in Vietnam and Cambodia took part in KPMG Community Day 2017. In all, 918 KPMG employees from Vietnam and Cambodia contributed over 6,000 volunteer hours at 15 projects and KPMG donated some $24,000 towards Community Day activities and their 12 local community partners in the two countries.

“We are so pleased that KPMG provided a donation to renovating our school, and welcome the work of the 50 staff who came to spend a day with us to do some repairs and painting and build a library,” said Ms. Le Thi Thanh Thuy, the Principal of the Tan Hanh C Primary School in the Mekong Delta's Vinh Long province.

“The Christina Noble Children’s Foundation is very proud to partner with KPMG in CSR activities during 2017,” Ms. Trinh Son, CNCF Director of Operations, said prior to the day. “We look forward to welcoming almost 100 KPMG staff on KPMG Community Day, who will engage and serve some of our most disadvantaged children under the care of four of our life-saving and life enhancing projects in Ho Chi Minh City. We look forward to our children benefiting from mentorship from KPMG’s professional team. On behalf of our Foundation, we are very grateful to KPMG for their humanitarian efforts.”

Of the 918 staff volunteers, 140 took part in KPMG Community Day for the first time. “Today, as a proud new member of the team, I hope to inspire others to volunteer with a local community group and give back to society,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Nhung, a new graduate who recently joined KPMG’s Ho Chi Minh City office.
