The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the “Learning about Vietnam session” in Hanoi on January 24 to help foreign diplomats and staff at foreign organizations learn more about the country.

Addressing the event, Assistant Foreign Minister Pham Sao Mai said it is an opportunity for international friends to understand more about Vietnam and seek partners to promote political, diplomatic, economic, and cultural relations.

Held just before Tet, the country’s most important holiday, the session this year focused on Vietnam’s history, culture, people, achievements in recent years, and policies to attract foreign investment and promote tourism.

The highlight was the cuisine experience and the “The Quintessence of Tonkin” show, which portrays the beautiful land of Vietnam with its rich history and culture and the unique heritage of the northern region, or Tonkin, on an interactive stage using advanced technology and with hundreds of performers. The show won the Gold Stevie Award for Innovation in Media, Visual Communications & Entertainment last year.

Participants also had a closer look at Vietnam’s political system and the apparatus, functions, and tasks of the Foreign Ministry. Some ambassadors who have been in the country for a long time also shared their experience.

First held in 2015, the annual “Learning about Vietnam session” is a channel to provide international friends with updated news on the country’s politics, economics, society, culture and new policies, contributing to Vietnam’s friendship and cooperation with foreign partners.

The program has attracted a lot attention from foreigners living in Vietnam, welcoming nearly 100 participants last year.
