Deputy CEO of Viet A Bank detained for holding gun to female taxi driver's head

Mr. Tran Thai Hoa did not hesitate to pull out a gun when being asked to move out of the taxi operator's private parking lot.

The case took place at around 20h00 yesterday when Mr. Tran Thai Hoa was parking his Lexus at Mai Linh taxi’s private parking lot in front of house no. S36, Pham Thai Buong Street, Tan Phong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City and Ms. Huynh Thi Thanh Vy, a female driver of the taxi operator, came to asked him to leave. Mr. Hoa immediately pulled out a RG88 and held it to Ms. Vy’s head.

Being panic-stricken, Ms. Vy shouted for help and instantly got backed up by her colleagues nearby. The local policemen of Tan Phong Ward came just a few minutes after and asked both sides to the local police station to resolve.

At the Police Station of Tan Phong Ward, Mr. Hoa had been able to present the firearm license granted to Viet A Bank’s An Giang branch by the Provincial Police Department and a hand-over record of the gun between that branch and Mr. Hoa.

The Tan Phong Ward Police Station had “take the gun and 3 bullets into custody” and will transfer it to the higher level of District 7’s Police Station for further investigation and clarification. Lt. Col. Luu Duc Binh, Chief of District 7’s Tan Phong Ward Police Station claimed that Mr. Hoa’s act was a violation of the regulation on using authorized guns as supporting tools and expressed his belief the District Police Department will verify and handle the case strictly.
