The Aviva Vietnam Life Insurance Company Limited announced on May 6 it will cooperate with the Vietnam Red Cross Society to officially kick off the Aviva Community Fund 2019.

The Fund is an important corporate social responsibility (CSR) program of the Aviva Group and has achieved remarkable success in the UK, France, Italy, Poland, Hong Kong, and Canada. Vietnam was the first country in Southeast Asia to implement the Fund, in 2017, and this is also the first CSR program based on the digital platform in Vietnam’s life insurance market.

The Fund will be implemented in three categories this year - the environment, education, and community health - with total funding of up to $129,000 going to 50 winning projects at three levels: $1,500, $3,000, and $5,000 each.
Different from the traditional approach to CSR, the Aviva Community Fund aims to encourage ideas from the community and inspire people to care for and offer solutions for existing issues in their local areas. Aviva commits to financially supporting creative initiatives in the expectation that individuals’ small actions can create great change in the community as a whole.

“Aviva believes that local people in each community are the ones who can make a real impact on that region,” said Mr. Paul George Nguyen, CEO of Aviva Vietnam. “And that’s what the Aviva Community Fund is all about - helping communities make a big difference through small changes.”

With an innovative approach, in its first year of deployment the Fund proved to be a great platform for creative ideas contributing to a better community. Throughout the submission process, voting from the community, and evaluations by a judging panel, the program funded $65,000 to 33 winning projects. With the expectation of spreading values across the country, Aviva Vietnam is honored to establish a strategic partnership with the Vietnam Red Cross Society.
“The Vietnam Red Cross Society greatly appreciates the investment in a better community from Aviva,” said Ms. Luong Thi Hong Thuy, Director of Investment and Resource Development at the Red Cross Society. “As a strategic partner of the Aviva Community Fund, the Vietnam Red Cross Society hopes to contribute to promoting and spreading its meaningful message nationwide.”

Accompanying the Aviva Community Fund 2019, MC Phan Anh, Program Ambassador, said it inspires individuals and voluntary groups in the community to implement their initiatives.

He believes that the quality of life of Vietnamese people will be increasingly improved both in quality and quantity. “As Ambassador of the Aviva Community Fund, I hold a strong belief in contributing to the journey of empowering future project owners to fulfill their mission to improve living environments and the quality of life,” he said.
