Argentina Week 2018 was launched by the Embassy of Argentina in Vietnam on December 3 in Ho Chi Minh City and will run until December 9 as a part of celebrations for the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Argentina.

The week aims to promote the image of Argentina, its people, and its cultural characteristics among the Vietnamese public.

Highlights are the Argentine Film Festival and Argentine Food Week.

Four films will be screened on December 3 and 4 at the Institute of Cultural Exchange with France (IDECAF) at 31 Thai Van Lung Street, District 1. They include “Wild Tales”, a black comedy consisting of six stories on the wild instincts and violence of humanity; the action movie “Brave Time”, about a psychologist and a detective investigating a mysterious disappearance; “Underdogs”, an animated film depicting true friendship and love; and the comedy “My First Wedding”, about a Jew and a Catholic who finally reach their wedding day. All films will have English subtitles and entry is free.

A culinary festival will be held from December 5 to 9 at Chit Chat Restaurant at the Equatorial Hotel, 242 Tran Binh Trong Street, District 5, with the participation of Argentina Cuisine Ambassador, Chef Alberto Curia.

Chef Curia will bring visitors the chance to experience the authentic flavors of famous Latin American dishes such as empanadas, caramelized carbonada humita de choclo, stewed pork neck with Malbec apricot sauce, milanesas (fried pork), and, in particular, short rib steak enjoyed with a glass of Argentinean wine La Escondida Reserva Malbec 2014, while enjoying an exciting Tango dance performance.

The Vietnamese Culture and Tourism Week opened in Buenos Aires last month, also to mark the anniversary of relations. It focused on introducing the history, cultural diversity, and traditions of Vietnam as well as the country’s achievements and famous landscapes such as Ha Long Bay, Sapa, Da Nang, and Hue.
