HAAN Group to open second wood processing plant

The HAAN Group began construction on October 20 of a new wood processing plant at the Tan Duc Industrial Park in the Mekong Delta’s Long An province, bordering Ho Chi Minh City. Next to its existing Ha An Long An 1 plant, Ha An Long An 2 will be up and running by late April 2018. With total investment of VND100 billion ($4.4 million), the plant will be capable of turning out 80 container loads of interior wooden goods a month.


ien Phong Plastics mulls 100% foreign ownership

The Tien Phong Plastics JSC) may allow 100 per cent foreign ownership instead of the current 49 per cent. A final decision will be made at its extraordinary shareholders meeting scheduled for November 30. The Board of Management needs approval from 65 per cent of shareholders to make the change.

Eco-tourism project on way in Thanh Hoa

The People’s Committee of the north-central province of Thanh Hoa recently gave the go-ahead to a $15.6-million eco-tourism resort project at the Nghi Son Economic Zone in Tinh Gia district. The project is being jointly invested by the Phu Thinh Phat General Trading JSC and the Tecco Investment Corporation JSC.


Vietcombank lending for agriculture

Vietcombank provided more than VND2.5 trillion ($108.7 million) in loans to agricultural enterprises applying high technology and adopting clean agricultural practices from April to July 2017. A project producing clean chicken eggs received a loan of VND600 billion ($26.08 million).


Viettel’s Tanzanian brand picks up award

Halotel, Viettel’s brand in Tanzania, has been honored at the International Business Awards 2017, in the category “The Fastest Growing Business in the Middle East and Africa.” As at October, it had more than 3.5 million customers, ranking it fourth out of eight telecommunications companies doing business in the country.


Float glass factory opens in Ninh Binh

A float glass manufacturing plant has recently begun operations at the Khanh Cu Industrial Zone in the northern province of Ninh Binh. Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Dinh Van Dien said he appreciates the efforts by local authorities and the investor to speed up the factory’s construction.


Hanoi among fastest-growing tourism cities

Hanoi has been ranked seventh on a list of the world’s fastest-growing tourism cities, with 16.4 per cent average annual growth recorded in the 2009-2016 period, according to the MasterCard Global Destinations Cities Index 2017. It followed Osaka, Chengdu, Colombo, Abu Dhabi, Jakarta, and Tokyo.
