Projects set for Van Dong

A series of projects worth VND60 trillion ($2.7 billion) in total will be built at the Van Don Special Administrative - Economic Zone in the northern province of Quang Ninh in 2018. Large-scale tourism projects include the Sonasea Dragon Bay tourism complex in Ha Long city worth VND5 trillion ($219.2 million) belonging to the CEO Group, the Furama Ha Long Vietnam Resort & Villas, worth VND1.12 trillion ($49.11 million) and invested by the Viglacera Corporation, and a tourism complex and heritage road in Van Don, which will be built at an estimated cost of VND5 trillion ($219.2 million). A luxury resort and entertainment complex on Ngoc Vung Island belonging to the FLC Group will also be launched, with investment of VND46 trillion ($2.02 billion), as well as a project on urban and port areas in Cai Bau Island costing about VND3.5 trillion ($153.55 million).


Exxon - PetroVietnam project underway

Mr. Liam Mallon, Chairman of the Exxon Mobil Group, has revealed that the Green Whale Gas project between the group and PetroVietnam is now underway. The project will put into operation by 2019, bringing major benefits in natural gas and providing cheap electricity with no coal gas emissions.

Hoang Quan Consulting project in US launched

The HQC USA LLC, a member of the Hoang Quan Consulting-Trading-Service Real Estate Corporation (Code: HQC) has held a commencement ceremony for the HQC Tacoma project in the US; the first HQC project overseas. HQC Tacoma has a total land area of 3,019 sq m, with total investment capital of $40 million.

Solar power plant for Ha Tinh

The Ha Tinh Provincial People’s Committee has approved a policy of investing in a 50 MW solar power plant in Cam Hoa commune, Cam Xuyen district, in the north-central province. The project has total investment of more than VND1.4 trillion ($60.8 million), of which capital from the Hoanh Son Group totals VND437.5 billion ($19 million), with the remainder being bank loans and other sources. The project is invested by the Hoanh Son Group and construction is expected to begin in the first quarter of next year.


First Solar raises Cu Chi solar panel investment

The US firm First Solar Group has decided to invest more on its solar panel project at the Dong Nam Industrial Park in Ho Chi Minh City’s Cu Chi district. First Solar will invest an additional $62.2 million, taking the total to over $1 billion. This is the largest additional investment commitment by a foreign firm at the city’s export processing and industrial zones this year.


CMC opens Japanese subsidiary

The CMC Corporation, one of the leading information and communications technology groups in Vietnam, opened a subsidiary in Yokohama city in Kanagawa prefecture, Japan, on November 7. The move is a result of the “Select Kanagawa 100” initiative, which aims to invite 100 foreign enterprises to invest in the prefecture.

“2018 National Tourism Year - Ha Long - Quang Ninh”

The “2018 National Tourism Year - Ha Long - Quang Ninh” will feature around 50 cultural and arts activities and is expected to attract 16 million visitors. Under the theme “Ha Long - Heritage, Wonder - Friendly Destination”, the program will include opening and closing ceremonies of the National Year, a cuisine festival, a paragliding competition, a photo contest, and a ceremony to announce and present a certificate recognizing Cua Ong Temple as a national relic site.
