Ground broken at Phu Yen resort and eco-tourism complex

Construction of a resort and eco-tourism complex has begun in the south-central province of Phu Yen, with VND560 billion ($24 million) in investment coming from the Ho Chi Minh City-based Tan Viet An House Trading and Investment Joint Stock Company. Covering 9.2 ha in the provincial capital Tuy Hoa, the Viet Beach project includes an eight-story hotel, 27 villas, 106 bungalows, and entertainment facilities such as a gymnasium, a club, a swimming pool, a children’s playground, and restaurants.

Bitconnect shuts lending and exchange platform

Bitconnect, a cryptocurrency lending platform, has announced the shutdown of its lending program and exchange platform. It will cease lending immediately and transfer all outstanding loans to the BitConnect e-wallet. The exchange platform will be closed in five days. The BitConnect.co website will operate for e-wallet services, news, and educational purposes only.

Bypass around Long Xuyen on way

A road bypassing Long Xuyen, the capital of the Mekong Delta’s An Giang province, will be built using surplus funds from the Mekong Delta Infrastructure Development project, according to the provincial Department of Transport. The bypass is the fourth component of the project, which also consists of Vam Cong Bridge, Cao Lanh Bridge, and a road connecting the two bridges, known as My An.

Public investment to focus on core sectors and key projects

The public investment restructuring scheme in 2017-2020 will focus on core sectors of the economy and major projects that will provide impetus to socioeconomic development and promote public and foreign investment in the public-private partnership (PPP) form. This is emphasized in a project restructuring public investment that has been approved by the Prime Minister.

Mekong Delta building planning adjusted

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung has signed a decision ratifying adjustments to building planning for the Mekong Delta region to 2030 and vision towards 2050. The region will pursue green growth, sustainability, and climate change adaptation, play an important role in the country and the Southeast Asian region, and become a key region in agricultural production, aquaculture, maritime economic growth, and ecological tourism. 

NA confirms new ambassador to US

The National Assembly has approved the appointment of a new ambassador to the US. The Standing Committee of the National Assembly (NA) issued its approval to the Prime Minister’s nomination of Mr. Ha Kim Ngoc as the new Vietnamese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the US for the 2017-2020 tenure.

Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum underway in Hanoi

A total of 355 officials from the 21 member countries are attending the 26th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-26) from January 18 to 21 in Hanoi. This is the second time Vietnam has hosted the APPF’s annual meeting, after the 13th holding in the northern province of Quang Ninh in January 2005.
