Saigontourist & Vietnam Post strike deal

The Saigontourist Travel Company and the Corporation of Vietnam Post Office (Vietnam Post) have inked a deal to share data on potential customers to develop better products and services. The two sides also pledged to use the products and services of each other and cooperate in organizing domestic and international events to promote their brands. Mr. Vo Anh Tai, General Director of Saigontourist, said the cooperation deal is part of its strategy for better integration and partnership promotion.

F&N Dairy hopes to pick up additional Vinamilk stake

F&N Dairy Investments Pte Ltd has registered to purchase 14.5 million shares in the Vietnam Dairy Products JSC (Vinamilk) in a bid to raise its ownership in Vietnam’s largest dairy producer. Under F&N Beverages Singapore and owned by Thai business tycoon Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, F&N Dairy is seeking to buy the 14.5 million shares from today, January 10, to February 8, according to a report submitted to the State Securities Commission of Vietnam and the Ho chi Minh Stock Exchange.

Da Nang to introduce second open-top bus service

The central city of Da Nang is scheduled to launch a second open-top bus service for tourists, between the international airport and Son Tra Peninsula. The new service will begin later this month, run by the Empire Group every 30 minutes from 7am to 10pm daily. Using eight 45-seat buses, the service will start from Da Nang International Airport and wind through main and coastal streets before stopping at Linh Ung Pagoda on Son Tra.

Three teams set for VietChallenge 2018

Three teams from Vietnam - Elight Education, VioT Connected Luminaires, and VDEs - will compete for a $50,000 cash prize in the final round of the VietChallenge 2018, the first global entrepreneurship competition for Vietnamese citizens. The three teams overcame other contestants after three hours of competition at the Vietnam National Round on January 9 in Hanoi.

ADB kicks off photo contest on Greater Mekong Subregion

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has launched a photo contest on Instagram to showcase development progress in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) and demonstrate how a focus on increasing regional cooperation and integration can improve people’s lives. The online photo contest, which has the hashtag #GMS25, is part of activities to mark the 25th anniversary of the GMS Economic Cooperation Program. GMS countries comprise Cambodia, China (specifically Yunnan province and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region), Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam.

European Investment Bank delegation in Hanoi

A high-level delegation from the European Investment Bank (EIB), the world’s largest international public bank, led by Vice President Jonathan Taylor is on a working visit to Hanoi from January 8 to 10, the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam said on January 9. This is the first high-level visit by the EIB to Vietnam in the past five years.

US DOC to review anti-dumping measures on wind towers

The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has recently published a paper announcing the initiation of a sunset review of the anti-dumping measures imposed on utility scale wind towers imported from Vietnam. The DOC also noted that relevant parties interested in participating in the review should submit a letter of inquiry, pursuant to Section 19 CFR 351.103 (d), within ten days of the date of publication of the investigation. Dumping occurs when a foreign company sells a product in the US at lower than the fair value of the product, according to DOC
