Giao Hang Nhanh offering goods transport from US

Giao Hang Nhanh has officially announced the introduction of transport services from the US to Vietnam, helping individuals and businesses gain more sources of imports from the US for sale in the domestic market. Buyers can order in the US and have the goods sent to a Giao Hanh Nhanh warehouse, which will then ship them to Vietnam. CEO Nguyen Tran Thi said the company set up its own office and warehouse in California.

Yogurt imports made easier

Yogurt imported into Vietnam is no longer subject to hygiene and quarantine checks by the ministries of health and agriculture, according to Decree No. 15/2018/ND-CP guiding the implementation of certain articles of the Law on Food Safety and Hygiene. The decree went into force on February 2 and replaces Decree No. 38/2012/ND-CP, and makes life easier for food traders by removing overlapping inspection requirements. Under Decree 15, food traders and producers must provide information about processed products, food additives, substances for use in food processing, and packaging materials contacting food.

Warning issued about travel to Maldives

The Consular Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised Vietnamese citizens not to travel to the Maldives until its government announces an end to the current state of emergency. The Maldives declared a 15-day state of emergency from February 5 due to a political crisis. Vietnamese citizens studying or working in or visiting the island nation are recommended to avoid crowded and sensitive places and keep a close watch on warnings from local authorized offices to ensure their safety.

VinFast opens mechatronic and industrial mechanical technician training center

The VinFast Manufacturing and Trading Company, a subsidiary of Vingroup, opened a center for mechatronic and industrial mechanical technician training in northern Hai Phong city on February 7. The center is located at VinFast’s auto manufacturing complex in the Dinh Vu - Cat Hai Economic Zone. It is expected to become operational this August, training 200 students in its first academic year.

640 business receive high-quality goods certification

The Business Association of High-Quality Vietnamese Products gave recognition to 640 businesses at a ceremony held in Ho Chi Minh City on February 7. Most recipients of the Vietnamese High-Quality Goods certificate are manufacturers of sauces, spices, confectionary, non-alcoholic beverages, cosmetics, jewelry, electrical and household equipment, dried foodstuffs, and instant foods, such as the Bibica Corporation, the Ha Long Canned Food JSC, Vinamilk, the Thai Tuan Group Corporation, and the Saigon Beer, Alcohol and Beverage Corporation (Sabeco).

Growing demand for gold

The World Gold Council (WGC) has assessed Vietnam as having the fastest growing demand for gold jewelry in the region, according to its report on global demand for gold. Demand for gold jewelry in Vietnam recorded its strongest increase last year since 2008, due to strong economic growth and a growing stock market. The jewelry retail network has expanded and there are indications that the government may soon be free to liberalize the gold market, which will boost demand.

VTC must prepare for equitization of subsidiaries

The VTC Corporation must immediately carry out preparatory work for the equitization of its enterprises this year under the guidance of the government and the Ministry of Information and Communications. Attracting external resources is a breakthrough factor in expanding production and developing new services, combined with internal resources, to realize strategic objectives. The strategy will be proposed over the next five-year period.
