Vingroup subsidiary the VinSmart Research and Production JSC announced a cooperation agreement on June 28 in Hanoi with Fujitsu Connected Technologies Ltd. under the Fujitsu Group, and Qualcomm, to develop 5G smartphones.

VinSmart and its two partners will cooperate to develop a special 5G mobile phone model with the Vsmart brand. The first model is expected to be sold in major markets such as the US and EU by April 2020.

The device will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 5G modular platform while incorporating Fujitsu’s advanced features such as battery saving, IP68 waterproof standards, and an optimal 4G + 5G antenna system.

“Cooperating with the world’s leading technology partners such as Fujitsu and Qualcomm is part of our pioneering strategy of applying the most modern technology into the production of mobile phones and smart devices in Vsmart projects,” said Mr. Nguyen Viet Quang, Vice President and General Director of Vingroup.

The combination of leading technology companies such as Qualcomm and Fujitsu and Vingroup’s ability to deploy quickly promises to bring users smartphones with modern technology, trendy features, and designs at reasonable prices.

VinSmart shaking hands with “giants” in the technology world will help Vietnamese engineers quickly approach, capture, and develop the next generation 5G mobile phones. This cooperation agreement also officially registers VinSmart as one of the first 5G phone manufacturers in the world, putting Vietnam on the list of countries pioneering the application and manufacturing of 5G devices.

Joining the market in June 2018, VinSmart launched its first four product lines last December and has expanded the Vsmart brand’s presence in Europe (Spain) and Asia (Myanmar) since early this year through mobile phone distribution.

VinSmart is expected to introduce about ten new smartphone models this year along with other smart devices.
