A number of contracts and memoranda of understanding (MoU) worth billions of US dollars were signed by businesses from Vietnam and the US on November 12 during US President Donald Trump’s State visit to Vietnam.

Witnessed by leaders from the two countries was the signing of a contract for the purchase and maintenance of PW1100G-JM engines between Vietnam Airlines and Pratt Whitney worth $1.5 billion, and an MoU for the Son My liquefied natural gas port valued at $1.3 billion.

A contract for the purchase and maintenance of 20 new PW1000G engines was also signed between the Vietjet Aviation JSC and Pratt & Whitney.

During former President Barack Obama’s visit to Vietnam in May 2016, the largest agreement ever between the two sides was signed: Vietjet Air purchasing 100 Boeing 737 MAX 200 aircraft costing $11.3 billion.
