Parties to coordinate to promote Vietnam's image and its tourism and people around the world.

Vietnam Airlines signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation on December 24 in Hanoi with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on tourism promotion in the 2020-2022 period.

The cooperation is an important basis for the parties to coordinate to promote and introduce the image of the country and its people and tourism to the world, contributing to creating many new products, attractive services, and improved quality and consistency. It will also provide convenient travel opportunities to Vietnamese and international visitors, in particular connecting Vietnam to the world through destinations where Vietnam Airlines conducts direct flights.

Many activities will be jointly implemented in the spirit of the memorandum of cooperation, including strengthening promotions in the media, introducing publications and documents, exchanging market research information, cooperating in attending international tourism fairs, organizing programs to introduce Vietnam’s tourism abroad, and holding domestic tourism events.

Vietnam Airlines and VNAT have had a tradition of cooperating in tourism promotion activities for many years, such as attending prestigious international tourism fairs around the world to introduce the beauty of Vietnam as well as the products and services of Vietnam Airlines, such as the Vietnam Festival in Japan, the Internationale Tourismus-Börse (ITB) Fair in Germany, and The World Travel Market (WTM) in the UK, as well as other destination introduction programs in Europe and Asia. These programs are part of the Vietnam Airlines’ “Flight of the Nation” campaign - a series of activities the carrier holds to promote the Vietnamese national identity, pride, and national responsibility.

Through this memorandum, VNAT and Vietnam Airlines will cooperate with the greatest sense of responsibility to contribute to making tourism a key economic sector and strengthening the close cooperation between tourism and aviation.

It is expected Vietnam’s tourism will grow by about 15 per cent this year compared to the global average of 4-5 per cent, and will reach the target assigned by the Prime Minister of welcoming about 18 million international visitors.

Vietnam Airlines has been certified as a four-star airline for the fourth consecutive year, having successfully met the rigorous rating criteria of Skytrax. Areas rated 4.5 or 5 stars increased by 16 per cent against 2016, when it first received four-star certification. Meeting 85 per cent of the four- and five-star criteria is a stepping stone for the carrier to become Vietnam’s first five-star airline after 2020.
