Vietnam Airlines received its eleventh Airbus A350-900 XWB next-generation widebody aircraft on March 28, in the presence of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and within the framework of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and France and the 15th anniversary of the carrier’s direct flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Paris.

The national flag carrier is the only airline in Vietnam and was the second in the world to own and operate the modern A350-900 XWB, since 2015, helping it successfully conquer long-haul routes across the continent and strengthen its position in Vietnam and the region.

After nearly three years of operations, passengers have experienced the quality of Skytrax four-star international services, such as Business Class flat-bed seats with a 180-degree recline, modern interiors and entertainment programs, and diverse cuisine.

The A350 aircraft is the 14th to be delivered by Airbus in the 2015-2019 period and the 100th aircraft of Vietnam Airlines.

Since the inception of the first A350 in July 2015, Vietnam Airlines has 154 pilots trained to fly its A350 fleet, operating over 13,000 flights and carrying over 3.3 million passengers to seven regular destinations, between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and Paris, Frankfurt (Germany), Haneda (Japan), Seoul (South Korea), and Shanghai (China).

Vietnam Airlines is also the first and only airline to operate Vietnam-France direct flights, which began in 2003 and have played an important role in the development strategy for the domestic aviation sector and contributed to the tightening of the friendship between the two countries and two continents.

Mr. Duong Tri Thanh, General Director of Vietnam Airlines, said that was a memorable milestone for Vietnam Airlines and for Vietnam’s aviation sector. “Vietnam-France direct flights opened in 2003 and increased the range of Vietnam Airlines from regional airline to global airline and been a strategic route for international integration, connecting the two countries in politics, economics and culture,” he added. “With a modern fleet and international four-star service quality, in addition to its mission of bringing the best experiences to our customers, Vietnam Airlines is always aware of the responsibility of being an important messenger, contributing to the increase in the friendship between Vietnam and France as well as bringing the world closer to Vietnam.”
