Vietjet tops list of biggest tax payers in Vietnam

This is Vietjet's second consecutive year on the list.

Vietjet has topped the list of the 100 biggest taxpayers in Vietnam for 2017, marking Vietjet’s second consecutive year on the list.

Vietjet made it to the list because of its business performance in 2017 when the airline reported VND42.303 trillion ($1.8 billion) in revenue and VND5.073 trillion ($220 million) in profit after tax, which showed an increase of 54 per cent and 73 per cent respectively, compared to the previous period.

The company has contributed more than VND4.197 trillion ($182.4 million) to the state budget, including direct and indirect taxes, charges, and fees. 

Mr. Nguyen Duc Tam, Vice President of Vietjet said that aviation is a special industry and achieving significant business growth is considered no less than a miracle. “After 6 years of operations, Vietjet is proud to be recognized as the top corporate income taxpayer to the government for the second time,” he added. “We look forward to further supporting the development and integration of our home economy in the coming years.”

Data from the General Department of Taxation reveals that the accumulative corporate income tax of the companies on the list reached VND110.027 trillion ($4.7 billion), accounting for 65.59 per cent of all tax from Vietnamese enterprises.

Mr. Bui Van Nam, General Director of the General Department of Taxation said that the list was well - implemented under a strict and objective manner. “Being on the list is a great achievement for any Vietnamese enterprise,” he added. “I would like to express my congratulations and appreciation to all the winners for their continuous efforts and I wish you all more success in the future. We will always support your development.”

Vietjet now operates 60 A320 and A321 airplanes with more than 385 flights daily, carrying more than 60 million passengers on 82 routes that cover destinations in Vietnam and other Asian countries such as Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Cambodia.

Vietjet plans to expand its network across the Asia-Pacific region as it continues to expand its regional network. Recently, Vietjet signed a contract agreement to purchase new aircraft from the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers.
