Toyota discussed vehicle safety features at the Vehicle Safety Course at the Hanoi University of Technology on March 11. ASEAN NCAP organized the course in cooperation with the Vietnam National Traffic Safety Committee, the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), and the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP), Vietnam Office.

Following the success of the first Vehicle Safety Course held in Karawang, Indonesia, last November, this second course aimed at sharing information on vehicle safety features that are available in the current market with the media, government agencies, and non-government organizations involved in road safety and, especially, with university students in Vietnam, demonstrating the benefits and functionalities of such technologies in preventing accidents or mitigating serious injuries.

Representatives from the Toyota Daihatsu Engineering & Manufacturing Company spoke of two safety features: Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), and Blind-Spot Technology (BST). Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV) also displayed the Vios, a strategic model in the Vietnamese market. Officially launched in August 2003 as a strategic completely-knocked-down (CKD) model, the Vios has continually consolidated its leading position in the Compact-mid Segment and persistently maintained its No. 1 position as the top selling vehicle in the market, with total sales of more than 130,000 as at February.

The Vios, together with three other CKD models of TMV - Camry, Corolla Altis, and Innova - have achieved the highest point – 5* ASEAN NCAP safety standard. In the future, TMV will continue improving and changing models in order to better meet customer needs, thereby contributing to providing comfort and peace of mind to every customer on every journey.
