The Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee on November 14  hosted a signing ceremony for an MoU struck with the SK Innovation Co. (SKI), Doosan Heavy Industries (DHI), the Ingine Company, and Vingroup regarding the Non-Carbon Island Initiative.

The MoU will be in effect until December 31, 2021. The People’s Committee will cooperate with and support the other parties in the process of surveying and making project proposals, and will direct agencies to guide and support the parties in completing administrative procedures.

SKI will take responsibility for the “Non-Carbon Island Initiative” and implement projects such as the distribution of eco-friendly facilities in the province.

DHI will be actively involved in the Initiative in RO desalination plants.

INGINE will provide wave-to-energy technology for the Initiative in Ly Son district.

Vingroup, as a Vietnamese business partner of the Non-Carbon Island Initiative, will sponsor environmentally-friendly vehicles associated with battery systems and charging stations that are manufactured and installed by the VinFast Manufacturing and Trading Company Ltd. - a subsidiary of Vingroup.

The MoU signing is a step on from a meeting with Quang Ngai leaders on September 24 on a project generating electricity from sea waves with a capacity of 100KW on An Binh Islet and costing $1 million.

Doosan Vina is a high-tech industrial complex at the Dung Quat Economic Zone in Quang Ngai employing 2,000 Vietnamese workers. The company supplies the mega infrastructure products that make modern life a reality.

Products include boilers for thermal power plants, desalination plants the size of a football pitch that turn sea water into fresh, material handling systems like cranes that are the heart of logistics at ports around the world, and modularization and structural steel for refineries, buildings, and infrastructure. To date the company has exported products worth $2.4 billion.
