New version launched to help Android users save on data.

Opera Max, the most popular Android data management and data saving app, rolled out its new 3.0 version on May 17. This is a major update with an all-new design, optimized for easier use of the powerful data savings and data management tools inside Opera Max. Additionally, the new version introduces a huge improvement to the data savings technology by adding support for Facebook savings.

Opera Max 3.0 will act like a user’s smart assistant to manage their Android apps. It now starts off on a familiar feed of cards that are contextual to users’ data usage. This smart and simplified design can show “app by app” mobile and wi-fi data usage and also provide personalized advice on how to best reduce wasted data. The tip cards on Opera Max’s new home feed will guide users through the most efficient ways to stretch their mobile data plan and help better manage their apps’ data consumption. Also, Opera Max will report on external security threats while providing data encryption when, for example, users are on public wi-fi to ensure users’ personal information is protected.

Up to 50% data saving for social media app lovers

Android users now don’t have to worry about overspending data on their favorite social media apps. Opera is taking it one step further by adding a powerful data savings feature for Facebook, offering a rich and easy-to-use “Savings for Facebook” shortcut created in Opera Max or the Android home screen.

With just one tap, users can launch Opera Max’s Facebook web app and have the benefits of a VPN connection, data saving sessions and other settings all auto-configured to get them going and saving on Facebook data usage. With Opera Max 3.0, users can get their friends’ updates, browse news and chat through instant messaging while saving up to 50 per cent of their data plan.

Social app-savvy users will be able to double up their usage by taking advantage of Opera Max’s data savings feature. Based on statistics from 78 million active monthly users of Opera Max, the average data savings on popular social media apps are up to 60 per cent for Instagram, 50 per cent for Pinterest, and 40 per cent for LINE, BBM and Zalo.
