Leading brands to gather at Textile & Garment Exhibition 2018

VTG 2018, a professional and B2B platform for the textile and garment industry, set for November.

The 18th edition of the Vietnam International Textile & Garment Industry Exhibition (VTG), held concurrently with the Vietnam International Textile & Apparel Accessories Exhibition (VitaTex), will run from November 21 to 24 at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 7.

VTG 2018 had more than 400 exhibitors with 600 booths registered by September 15, including hundreds of leading brands from eleven countries and territories such as China, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Portugal, Taiwan, Turkey and Vietnam.

Famous exhibiting brands will showcase printing machines, while Beworth and Silk Road will demonstrate modern flat knitting machines. Several seminars will be hosted during the exhibition, with speakers from official departments, foreign affairs institutions, and universities, who will share topics from strategies to practical solutions in enhancing the textile and garment industry.

Positive factors

Vietnam saw outstanding achievements in the first half of 2018, with production and export turnover in the textile and garment industry being listed in the world’s top five. Exports totaled $19 billion in the first eight months, an increase of 15 per cent year-on-year.

Many garment firms have maintained steady growth by cooperating with existing clients. Moreover, the momentous EU-VN Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) will have significant effects. With several positive factors in 2018 and the advantages for Vietnam in the integration of ASEAN, the CPTPP, and the EVFTA, prosperity is expected in the textile and garment industry. 

Visiting VTG 2018 is the best way for Vietnamese professionals to connect with worldwide textile and garment chains at VTG Series Sectors, with Vietnam playing an increasingly important role in the global market, and the exhibition is the most efficient method to communicate with global networks under one roof.

Next destination for footwear

Vietnam is the most important footwear producing and trading country in the world and has major strategic partnerships with several footwear brands. Its export quantity is second in the world, accounting for 7.4 per cent of global export volumes, behind only China. Famous brands such as Nike, Adidas, The North Face, Timberland, and Columbia are all produced by Vietnamese enterprises. 

Vietnam has more than 700 manufacturers and 1.5 million workers in the footwear industry. Around 200 companies are operated by foreign funds, which contributed 70 per cent of footwear export turnover. Furthermore, Vietnam is the fast-growing country in the One Belt One Road surrounding area, with footwear exports at $6.5 billion at 2011, $13 billion six years later, and an expected $20 billion in 2018.
