The 20th holding of the prestigious The Guide Awards by Vietnam Economic Times in late September left, as usual, a good impression on the tourism business community. VET interviewed Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hai, Director of the Sanest Tourist Travel Co., and Mr. Ho Kim Phong, CEO of Sanest Tourist, who were among the outstanding winners this year and in previous years.

Can you tell us about your company? How many times has it won The Guide Awards?

The Khanh Hoa Salanganes’ Nest Company is honored to have been assigned by the Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee to manage, process and trade products from salangane nests. It is also responsible for organizing the management and protection of islands in the province that are home to the swiftlet. As a national leader in the process of managing, exploiting, processing and developing natural salangane nest resources, as well as one of the leading companies in Southeast Asia in scientific research on the population, development and quality of the nests, the company has a long history in the industry, with professional exploitation technicians and rich experience.

In order to diversify the business and utilize the strength of nature and the beauty of the coastal province of Khanh Hoa, in August 2003 the company established the Sanest Tourist Service Center on the occasion of the first “Nha Trang - The Meeting Point” sea festival. Its first ever tour to Hon Noi salangane island was a great success that gave tourists a chance to explore the swiftlet in the wild and appreciate the genuine nutritious value of its nests.

The company hopes to also spread the Khanh Hoa Salanganes’ Nest brand and the image of Nha Trang as a peaceful, friendly and hospitable land among domestic and international tourists.

Restaurants in Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Lam Dong province are now serving dishes from salangane nests.

Units of the Khanh Hoa Salanganes’ Nest Company have been honored eight times in a row with The Guide Awards. The Salanganes’ Nest Product Promotion and Restaurant Center won from 2013 to 2015, the Khanh Hoa Salanganes’ Nest Restaurant in 2017, and the Sanest Tourist Co. every year since 2016. This is an honor not only for the Khanh Hoa Salanganes’ Nest Company but also for Nha Trang and Khanh Hoa.

What are your thoughts on receiving The Guide Awards for so many consecutive years? Do you think your efforts to contribute to the development of Vietnam’s tourism sector have been fully recognized? How do you view The Guide Awards - the first tourism awards ever in Vietnam?

Nha Trang has always been considered a land of “great weather, favorable terrain, and concord among the people”. It’s a must-see destination on the itinerary of domestic and international travelers. Using the tourism services of Sanest Tourist gives them the chance to admire beautiful and energetic Nha Trang and its beach and nature.

Visitors will be able to see firsthand salangane nests on Hon Noi Island. Traveling in a glass-bottomed boat, they can also admire the beauty of the colorful coral reefs and other marine creatures. Its tours to the four islands of Hon Tre, Hon Mun, Hon Rom, and Hon Tam in Nha Trang Bay are equally attractive.

The company always pays attention to improving and professionalizing it business and contributes to the country’ mission of national sovereignty and sea and island protection. It also strives to develop other types of travel services to diversify tourism types in Nha Trang, to help promote the beauty of Nha Trang and Khanh Hoa in general and the brand of Khanh Hoa Salanganes’ Nest in particular.

Receiving The Guide Awards for many years in succession is a great honor for Khanh Hoa Salanganes’ Nest Company and motivates its leaders and employees to make even greater efforts to improve our service quality.

Every year, The Guide Awards are organized by Vietnam Economic Times to honor businesses that have made outstanding contributions to Vietnam’s tourism industry during the previous year. This is the most prestigious tourism award in the country, with winners based on criteria like product quality, service, and suitable price. The awards play a vital role in encouraging businesses to improve their product quality, creativity, and product diversification, and recognizes efforts to preserve and promote Vietnamese cultural values and efforts to protect the natural environment for sustainable development.

In order to receive The Guide Awards, how hard did the company have to work over recent years? What is your commitment to promoting the sustainable development of Vietnam’s tourism industry?
