In particular, the “Salangane Raising and House Building Process and Technique Suitable for Each Region and Locality to Serve the Sustainable Development of Salangane Farming in Vietnam” research conducted by M.S. Le Huu Hoang, Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company, and his colleagues, received a Silver Medal in the International Science and Technology Prize 2016 in South Korea. The event was organized by the Korea Innovation Promotion Association (KIPA), the Korea Intellectual Property Agency (KIPO), and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in December 2016. In May 2016, this work received First Prize in the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Awards and also received a prize from WIPO.
The above research projects have contributed to the decision to expand salangane numbers, caves, and nests on islands in Khanh Hoa province and also to many localities nationwide, and not only on natural salangane islands, as hundreds of salangane houses have been built by people everywhere. Initially, there were only eight salangane islands with 40 salangane caves, but through the successful implementation of herd immigration and multiplication, the salangane population has backed up the scientific argument that the development of Aerodramus Fuciphagus Germani is associated with the development of salangane island caves. So far, the company has managed 33 salangane islands with 170 salangane caves, contributing to the increase of the natural salangane nest yield over the years.
