HATCH! PROGRAM will organize its annual HATCH! FAIR 2015 / IPP Midterm Demo on October 31 and November 1 at the Hanoi Museum in the capital’s Tu Liem district.

The startup exhibition and conference has been held since 2013 by HATCH! PROGRAM (hatch.vn) - an incubation and ecosystem builder. This year HATCH! introduces an additional event - IPP Midterm Demo - co-organized by the Innovation Accelerator Program (IAP), a project of the Finnish Government’s ODA-funded Innovation Partnership Program (IPP, ipp.vn).

With the theme “Entrepreneurialism is just as sexy”, HATCH! FAIR 2015 / IPP Midterm Demo recognizes the achievements of entrepreneurs in Vietnam and provides a venue to connect business founders with each other and supporting organizations and investors, both on a national and international scale.

“We believe that, through HATCH! FAIR 2015 / IPP Midterm Demo, entrepreneurs and startup enthusiasts and supporters will gain a great overall picture about startups in Vietnam in 2015 and catch new trends for 2016 and beyond, and find opportunities for partnerships and investment discussions,” said Mr. Riku Mäkelä, Senior Innovation Expert with the IPP.

The last few years have seen the significant development of Vietnamese startups, with a number of successful endeavors entering both local and international markets, such as giaohangnhanh.vn, ticketbox, moneylover, beeketing.com, tappy, wiindi.com, and compare.vn, to name just a few. Entrepreneurs are also receiving more support not only from the private sector, such as consulting and investment groups, but also from the Vietnamese Government and foreign governments and are earning more attention from overseas.

“More funds have come, from the Vietnamese Government and foreign governments, to support a variety of startup businesses in the country, such as the IPP, the Vietnam Inclusive Innovation Project (VIIP), and Innofund,” said Mr. Pham Quoc Dat, Director of HATCH! PROGRAM. “A number of international funds from the US, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Singapore have been expanding their portfolios to Vietnam.” According to Mr. Dat, this support provides more opportunities for startups in Vietnam to access investment, business consultancy, and network referrals.

HATCH! FAIR 2015 / IPP Midterm Demo will have dozens of exhibiting startups, including a diverse startup portfolio from the IPP’s IAP. The two-day exhibition will attract 3,000 visitors and have 500 people attending the conference. Entrepreneur workshops and investment pitching sessions fill out the conference’s offerings - “HATCH! BATTLE”, the annual startup competition, and the “Hackathon for Social Good”, a new 48-hour coding competition to address social challenges. Other workshops with topics on business expansion, management, and investment issues will also be held.

This year HATCH! FAIR 2015 / IPP Midterm Demo will also organize its first Networking Dinner, on October 31. Exclusively for startup founders, mentors and investors, the dinner will expand and strengthen networks in parallel with sharing insights and trends on the startup scene nationally and internationally and also create more discussions for further collaboration and investment opportunities.

HATCH! FAIR 2015 / IPP Midterm Demo is co-organized by IPP and HATCH! PROGRAM with additional support from Agency for Enterprises Development (AED) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, UNDP Vietnam, the British Council, Live and Learn, CSIP, Tigers@Mekong, Hivos, and SEATTI.
