Honda Vietnam picks up Golden Dragon Award

Auto and motorbike maker rewarded for its ongoing commitment to long-term investment and sustainable development in Vietnam.

Honda Vietnam was again among the 62 foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs) winning a Golden Dragon Award from the Editorial Board and readers of Vietnam Economic Times. The awards ceremony was held in Hanoi on April 14.

Together with being among “Top 100 Best Workplaces of Vietnam” from the “100 Best Workplaces of Vietnam” survey conducted by the Anphabe Human Resources Network and Intage Vietnam Market Research in 2017, the Golden Dragon Award is the result of the efforts of all Honda Vietnam employees and its network of motor car dealerships and service centers (known as HEADs) and nationwide Honda motorbike dealers. Winning the award is a great way to promote product quality and support services as well as prioritize the expansion of social security and community activities.

Honda Vietnam has been actively asserting its strengths in the field of automobiles and motorbikes by introducing superior products to meet the diverse needs of consumers.

It is now operating three motorbike factories with a designed capacity of 2.5 million units per year and a automobile factory with a designed capacity of 10,000 units per year. It has also boosted the operations of auxiliary factories to support production, exports, and after-sales services.

Holding more than 70 per cent of the motorbike market share among five foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs) in Vietnam, In fiscal year 2018 (FY18) (April 2017 - March 2018), sales of Honda motorbikes reached 2.38 million units in Vietnam, up 7.5 per cent from FY17.

The Golden Dragon Awards are an annual awards program organized by Vietnam Economic Times and the Foreign Investment Agency at the Ministry of Planning and Investment since 2001 in honor of FIEs with impressive achievements in production and business activities.

It also honors FIEs that apply solutions and technologies for environmental protection, fulfill their tax obligations, ensure the interests of workers, and actively participate in community activities.

The award also aims to connect and promote the role and mission of the media with managers, policymakers, economic experts and the business community and between manufacturers, traders and consumers.

In addition to motorbike production, Honda Vietnam has confirmed its position in the automobile market, bringing the core values of Advanced Technology - Fuel Savings - Superior Safety to each product.

Honda Vietnam sells types of motor cars in Vietnam: hatchbacks, sedans (large, medium and small), SUVs, and MPVs. There are five imported models, including the Odyssey, Accord, CR-V, Civic, and Jazz, while one model is produced in Vietnam: City. Sales in FY18 reached 12,870 units, a 5.3 per cent increase year-on-year.

In order to express its responsibility as a vehicle manufacturer, Honda Vietnam has stepped up and expanded the coverage of its Driving Safety program. It also pays special attention to community activities such as supporting educational development and providing aid and comfort for flood victims. It is also a pioneer in nurturing and developing motor sports in Vietnam and has sent racing drivers and riders to international events.

Its recent achievements and practical contributions affirm Honda Vietnam’s commitment to long-term investment and sustainable development in Vietnam.
