Heineken Vietnam has been recognized as one of the best companies to work for in Asia by HR Asia Magazine, one of Asia’s leading publications for HR professionals. The recognition was announced at a ceremony held on September 14 in Ho Chi Minh City for the first time, which witnessed the crowning of the Best Companies to Work for in Asia - Vietnam Chapter.

For Heineken Vietnam, people are at the heart of its business so it continually seeks to “unlock the potential” of employees, maximize their prospects, and offering them a safe, proactive workplace for continual learning and growth.

“We believe the better trained our people are, the bigger the impact they will have on our company and the country,” said Mr. Le Qui Don, Human Resources Director at Heineken Vietnam. He added that it has incorporated its sustainability strategy into its core business, with a key focus on caring for People, Planet and Prosperity. Heineken Vietnam’s business success, he said, is very much due to its commitment to its people.

Because people are at the heart of Heineken Vietnam’s business, it has invested immensely in developing staff at all levels. Employees benefit from the company’s people development program to increase their capacity and skill sets as well as innovative programs like short-term assignments and graduate programs that give Vietnamese employees the chance to experience work at other Heineken companies around the world. Employees at Heineken Vietnam also get to experience the company’s sustainability programs, including a green workplace platform designed to encourage a better working environment, not just within the company but also in the community.

Award recipients were selected from a pool of 130 nominees in 24 industries, based on proprietary research that assessed the company's working environment, HR practices, employee engagement, and job satisfaction. This year, thousands of employees in Vietnam responded to the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia Survey. HR Asia, a publication of Business Media International, developed this proprietary survey in consultation with a team of senior industry practitioners and leading thought leaders.

Established in 1991, Heineken Vietnam is a joint venture between the Saigon Trading Group (SATRA) and Heineken. One of the world’s leading international brewers, Heineken is a family-owned business with a history of over 150 years that sells over 250 beer and cider brands in 179 countries.

In Vietnam, it brews and trades Heineken, Tiger, Larue, Desperados, and Affligem beers and Strongbow Cider. It has six breweries in Vietnam, in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 12, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Tien Giang, Vung Tau and Hanoi.

Today, Heineken Vietnam is one of the most long-standing and successful joint ventures in the country. From humble beginnings in 1991with only 20 employees, it is now the second largest brewer in Vietnam, with around 3,000 local employees. Heineken Vietnam (together with Heineken Hanoi) makes a significant annual economic contribution to Vietnam, representing approximately 0.88 per cent of the country’s GDP. It focuses on using Vietnamese products wherever possible and has created 158,000 jobs in the country.
