FPT received a world record on September 30 for a “National Cross Run Award organized by a company with the largest number of participating managers and employees on the longest running route” for its “Connecting Journey” event.

Connecting Journey was a cross-country relay race that involved 3,000 FPT members and lasted 31 days, held to celebrate FPT’s 30th anniversary. The journey represents the pioneering spirit in overcoming new limits and challenges, which has always been a guiding light in FPT’s 30 years in business.

The journey spanned 29 cities and provinces, starting from Lang Son Friendship Port on the border with China and ending at Ca Mau Peninsula. The FPT flag was raised by athletes along Vietnam’s 2,600-km length.

“Connecting Journey re-enacted the completion of FPT’s north-south internet backbone route from Lang Son to Ca Mau, which was completed in an incredible nine months and ten days and brought internet access to all regions,” said Mr. Bui Quang Ngoc, CEO of the FPT Group.

The Vietnam Book of Records (VietKings), the only record organization in the country, previously awarded Vietnam Records to FPT in two categories: “Longest running relay (2,600 km)” and “Largest number of athletes in Vietnam (3,000 people)”. Impressed by the great ideas, unity and persistence of 3,000 FPT members and wanting to further promote Vietnam’s records to the world, VietKings supported FPT in registering for the world record and in delivering a presentation to the WorldKings Council. After days of appraisal, WorldKings announced the awarding of a world record for Connecting Journey.

“After working with the FPT team from the beginning and appointing two VietKings experts to directly participate in and monitor the daily developments during the 31 days of the journey, I was really touched by the aspiration and effort and the results the FPT Group achieved,” said Dr. Duong Duy Lam Vien, Secretary-General of the Vietnam Record Association and CEO of VietKings. “We demonstrated to the WorldKings Council that Vietnam has great records coming from great ideas and a spirit to overcome all challenges.”

“WorldKings recognizes records and appreciates the values that an individual or a team attempts to create,” said Mr. Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury, Vice President of WorldKings. “It sometimes takes a month or a year or even a whole life to accumulate and achieve something of significance. We encourage individuals and organizations to set new records that are meaningful and convey a humanitarian message to the community. The record FPT created is very impressive.”

“During its 30 years of development, thousands of FPT members have been pioneers and overcome many challenges together,” Mr. Ngoc added. “A pioneering spirit, intense determination, and perseverance molded FPT into what it is today. We are proud that our efforts in Connecting Journey have been acknowledged by the world and have supported our determination to become a world-leading digital conversion company.”

The World Records Union (WorldKings) was established in 2015 with 15 founding members and is headquartered in New Delhi, India, with the aim of honoring cultural, spiritual, and historical values that set records for the world. It has awarded 30 world records in Vietnam to date.

Established on September 13, 1988, FPT has had 30 years of being a pioneer in information technology and telecommunications, bringing global technology to Vietnam and putting Vietnamese intelligence on the world technology map. It has made its name through Vietnamese software, contributing to the modernization of national backbone industries, opening markets for the distribution and retailing of genuine technology products, breaking the internet monopoly, establishing a school associated with training and practice, and opening the first and largest electronic newspaper in Vietnam.
