Ford saw record sales for the second consecutive month in December as they surged 56 per cent year-on-year to 3,959 vehicles, driven by strong sales across the Ford lineup in Vietnam, with the Ranger, Everest, and EcoSport each delivering their all-time best monthly performance.

“We had a fantastic finish to the year, which was supported in part by the continued strength of Vietnam’s economy and high consumer confidence,” said Mr. Pham Van Dung, Managing Director of Ford Vietnam. “Our Ford showrooms around the country continue to be quite busy, with demand across our lineup contributing to sales momentum.”

The segment-defining Ranger delivered its best-ever month, with December sales jumping 38 per cent year-on-year to 1,928 vehicles. It remained Vietnam’s best-selling pickup truck in 2018 for the fifth consecutive year, with full year sales totaling 8,675.

The popular EcoSport contributed to the record in December with an all-time best monthly performance, as sales soared 59 per cent to 623 vehicles. It finished 2018 as the leader in Vietnam’s compact SUV segment, with sales climbing 22 per cent to 4,844 vehicles.

The new EcoSport features a choice of two engines - the award-wining EcoBoost 1.0L or the 1.5L TiVCT - and builds on the success of its predecessor, with a number of upgrades and enhancements to its design, performance, and safety features.

The versatile Transit van remained the best-seller in Vietnam’s commercial van and bus segment in 2018, with full year sales increasing 2 per cent from 2017 to 5,815 vehicles, including December sales of 340.

The Everest mid-size SUV also delivered an all-time record monthly performance in December of 621 vehicles sold, driving annual sales to 2,007.

The sporty Focus delivered December sales that increased 40 per cent year-on-year to 254 vehicles, helping drive annual sales up 69 per cent to 2,105 vehicles. The 1.5L EcoBoost-equipped Focus provides a smooth handling family sedan that has plenty of interior space and comfort.

The US-imported Explorer premium SUV, equipped with a 2.3L EcoBoost engine, saw December sales jump 44 per cent year-on-year to 183 vehicles. It remained the leader of the premium SUV segment for the second consecutive year, with 2018 sales of 785 vehicles.
