Five “Made in Vietnam” rubber-tired gantry cranes (RTGC) arrived at the Krishnapatnam Port Company Limited (KPCL) in India on May 28, more than a month ahead of schedule.

The RTGC’s are the first from Doosan Vina for KPCL. The total weight of the five cranes is 800 tons, with each weighing 160 tons and being 27 meters high, 28 meters long, and 13 meters wide. They are designed to stack, load and unload standard 41-ton cargo containers. With cutting-edge operating technology, they are independently powered and have a 360-degree pivotal steering system with 16 tires, making them versatile and agile with cost-effective and safe operations.

KPCL will more than double productivity and capacity with the new cranes while saving time for customers, reducing costs for shippers, and ensuring that cargo trains, trucks, and ships can depart on schedule.

KPCL is a private deep-water port on the east coast of India under India’s the Navayuga Group. It handled over 36 million metric tons (MMT) last year and is located 190 km north of Chennai, with sea, rail and road access. It handles cargo containers, dry bulk cargo, and liquid cargo.

Doosan Vina has now delivered a total of 80 “Made in Vietnam” cargo container cranes to customers worldwide.
