Hanoi and HCMC the first target of BE Group's new app, with other cities and provinces to follow.

Vietnamese transport tech startup the BE Group officially launched its “be” app on December 13.

The two major services introduced this year are beBike (motorbike ride sharing) and beCar (motor car ride sharing).

The “be” app is in the process of finalizing technical matters to be officially put into operation on December 17. Customers can download the app on both Android and iOS and “be” is offering a discount of 25 per cent for beBike and beCar driver partners.

The launch is initially in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and it will continue to develop elsewhere around the country after February, following approval from State management agencies.

It is expected that “be” will be present in 15 cities and provinces next year and all 63 cities and provinces by the end of 2020. The number of driver partners is to be 10,000 per city this year and 110,000 by the end of 2019, while the startup has targeted 6.6 million app downloads and over 105 million trips by next year. Delivery services are also expected to be introduced next year.

‘be’ is officially registered for business in the field of transportation, unlike other ride sharing providers.

It will also be the first ride sharing app to offer comprehensive 24/7 road accident insurance (medical expenses, income subsidy while receiving treatment) for all driver partners joining the “be” team.

“be” is also working with banking partners to develop individualized credit packages to support partner drivers. VPBank will be a strategic partner, as will the OPES Insurance Company, helping the BE Group and “be” create a competitive advantage over other similar apps.

Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, General Director of the BE Group, said that with the trust and cooperation of professional driver partners along with a modern business model, transparency, and an understanding of Vietnamese psychology, ‘be’ can be competitive and win over customers. “Regarding legal liability between ‘be’ and the driver and the customer, ‘be’ will act at the highest level to ensure their legal rights when problems occur,” he added. “We want to create a product with superior quality for customers, a better mode for drivers, and, at the same time, prove that Vietnamese people have the potential, ability and passion to be competitive with foreign apps in the transport field. Strategic partnerships with VPBank, OPES and others will create an ecosystem that supports driver partners, so they can provide the best service to customers.”

Mr. Mai Anh Vu, CEO of OPES, said that the insurance product for ‘be’ has been designed with the best benefits in mind. “We understand the desire of the BE Group to want to secure trust, peace of mind, and comfort among drivers,” he said. “This is also a guideline of OPES in creating products in the future.”
