Tibco Software Inc., a global leader in integration, API management, and analytics, announced a joint project on January 7 with the Banking Academy of Vietnam (BAV), a university committed to expanding the data analytics knowledge of students in Vietnam.

Tibco and BAV plan to launch the Tibco Data Analytics Lab on a site at the university to teach students how to use connected intelligence insights for better business decisions in the banking sector. Tibco works with numerous universities across Asia, equipping students with the relevant skillsets to address the growing need for data analyst professionals.

This cooperation will support BAV students by providing practice-based training to understand data analytics as well as the foundational skills necessary to support the country’s digital transformation initiatives. Technology is swiftly changing the way organizations in Vietnam work as they embrace industrialization. Cloud, artificial intelligence, and data analytics are becoming more broadly recognized digital skills needed in the workforce.

“The banking industry in Vietnam is transforming rapidly,” said Mr. Erich Gerber, Senior Vice President, EMEA and APJ at Tibco. “Banks are realizing the need to be digital to cater to the large population of young smartphone users and high consumer growth. It is crucial we cooperate with educational institutions, such as BAV, to leverage Tibco’s expertise and innovative solutions in providing a relevant curriculum for students. Equipping them with data analytics solutions like Tibco Spotfire will help students excel in a quickly changing digital economy and contribute to the local workforce. We believe that this program will be a launching pad for future cooperation.”

The Lab will also enhance the development of students’ data capabilities to address critical human resources shortages. Students will work with Tibco solutions, including Tibco Spotfire, to ensure they are equipped with the competencies and skillsets required to meet industry needs in application and solution innovation. The Lab will also focus on technologies that feature real-life scenarios and give students a first-hand view of how industries leverage data in real time to make informed decisions that drive positive business impact.

“We are delighted to have this opportunity to cooperate with an industry expert such as Tibco, helping us fulfil our promise of a high-quality and relevant education program for our students,” said Dr. Phan Thanh Duc, Dean of the MIS Faculty. “BAV has always been open to cooperation that provides our students with more extensive ways of enhancing their development. With this cooperation, which focuses on in-depth banking solutions, such as fraud detection, anti-money laundering, and credit scoring, we believe students will be prepared with the right skillsets needed to be employed in our country’s digital banking era.”

Through this cooperation, BAV aims to have up to 200 students train at the Tibco Data Analytics Lab each year in various courses, such as Decision Support Systems and Business Intelligence or Data Mining.

Both parties aim to provide students with hands-on opportunities to practice concepts using selected Tibco tools to deepen their knowledge in advanced data analytics. There will also be opportunities for students to learn through guest lectures, seminars, networking sessions, and relevant training modules with industry experts.
